This
writing was mostly based on the author’s memory since the official documents
and data regarding the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) are now no longer available or
at best scarcely accessible. However,
and luckily, a sizable number of the Thư Viện Tập San (English
translation: Library Journal), the official organ of the Vietnamese Library
Association (VLA), published before April 30, 1975, is still available, and,
therefore, the author still has some important and useful information regarding
the library development in South Vietnam.
The author sincerely hopes for corrections and updates from the readers.
